Time

Is there ever enough time in our day? Is it something we really need to find? or is it something that is really just part of our day, part of our life that flys by?

When I was a 'little one', time was something I was taught about by my mom. She is very organized when it comes to time, she taught me to respect it, follow it, and pay attention to it. Always making sure I knew if there was a time to be somewhere...arrive fifteen minutes early to "be on time", along with finding the time to make it on time. Schedules were set, lessons learned...my Mom is BIG ON TIME.

Now as a 'big person' I wonder how crazy it drives my Mom...cause really I have no use for time. I learned early on the trick about the fifteen minutes early? really means fifteen minutes of extra work when you show up 'on time' or fifteen minutes of more waiting, on top of the waiting for those appointments where others have lost time. I remember as a teen I loved watches...wearing them on my right arm..cause it was different for the time...wearing more than one, set to all times...I think at one time I even wore one on my ankle. Strangely even then, I do not have many memories of watching the time....wondering, exploring, and searching...until of course it was Mom's time..of being home..on time! I had a friend who was classified a genius in school...musically, artistically, academically, she was brilliant yet could not tell time?

with the upcoming season of our Shoeless Acres Academy about to begin, time is on my mind. with time comes a schedule, with schedules come organized ritual habits following the time, making our way thru our day. I have issues with time, and schedules...I am working to swing into gear...to schedule our day. But will confess now...this is gonna be a chore. The basics R easy, I know what must get done, but to wake to each day and follow a clock? I am not sure I can do it, not sure I want to, not sure if I am ready to change our free flowing ways of daze to be a slave to the tick tock of the clock.

Time is on my mind

Before I began my post today, I walked thru the house and wrote down the time, the time I see around the house....for those of you who are my flickr friends...this will explain the time on my photos...why you will see a photo of the sun, only to read the details and see the time...taken @ night???...I am a turn it on, hit ok, and go with the time its got kinda loon! no time for time kinda loon

My clocks today

Kitchen oven 8:29am
Kitchen clock 8:26
Bathroom Clock 1:29~possessed and never on time...but a sun that I love
Bedroom Clock 9:14am~cause my love likes time to be ahead to sleep longer???
fax machine 23:15 ~whatever the hell that means ... just before midnight I think
and my camera 08/18/08 12:20am ~note to self....remember to take the time to take the dam time and date stamp off the photos..drives me crazzee when I get a great shot with the time running thru it!!!

Today i suppose i should start to pay attention to the time, the brats R taking the time to make their own breakfast, I must find some time to do laundry, and avoid the time to clean the house !

time drives me nuts...I must change this attitude soon (maybe) the countdown begins... ten more days till we will organize our time, begin the Academy of learning on the Shoeless Acres...and oh ya...finalize the learning..how to tell time!
(note~considered starting school early this year..but considering the goonies called this morning at ...before 8amish...might as well wait til they return to school to...giving me more time!!)

Family..
My loony goonies R doing fantastic and ready to start back to school (not sure if I am..but will get there ASAP) My love arrived home early yesterday giving me an opportunity to take an afternoon nap...aka really just watching General Hospital with my eyes closes. As usual the nap only lasted 15mins when Aspen was shouting in the vent above me..."r U sleeping yet ? we caught two baby snakes, do you want to see them?" no nap and no last fifteen minutes of GH! but two cute little snakes? in my antique can. Fun for the brats as they took the chance to 'learn how to pick them up and not jump and scream while doing it'
We attended the 28th annual Kelly Cunneyworth Reunion (one would think after 28years I would know how to spell cunniworth??? luckily I am a Kelly~!) As usual many annoying moments, but the smiles, tears, hugs and laughter always out way the dark side! A chance to reconnect with part of my family I have not seen in a decade...all of us smiling together like we had never been apart! My children giddy for the day as they played with family! fantastic memories to tuck away.
we have added a new member to our family after meeting a beautiful woman name Niecey! (along with her family too...I love it when family grows!)

Farminals..damn i raised me some fine birds this year...tasty tasty stuff! twenty more arriving September 17th.

green Stuff...I love green stuff and not looking forward to it turning all white again...with the exception of the ski~factor

Healthy Eating...see cooking tips above

I am Mama~! yes I am and loving it.

Just for fun and learning how...Just for fun and learning how? damn there is two of those labels? damn there is two of those labels..must have really been fun learning how!!!

local News that Drives me batty
~! Living just outside the small town of Callander, Ontario I admit I felt a sense of (new) hometown pride when I realized a young man from town is part of the Canadian Olympic Team for Track and Field. This week in the local small town weekly paper I read a story of his DELAYED trip to Beijing after attempting to board his Air Canada flight to the games. It would seem some ANAL guard at the gates stopped young Taylor Milne and flagged his passport as unacceptable at the gate. The passport Milne admitted had gone thru the wash two years prior but noted to the guard that he had in fact just flown to Belgium the week before with the same passports, as well had obtained his Chinese Visa for the Games from CHINA? after contacting Airport Officials..the jack ass guard still stuck to his guns and denied the passport despite the fact the officials were willing to let Milne continue on his journey. His journey was delayed a full week! New passport, and then a new visa were required for our Olympian Athlete to make it to the Games. My question is ..did this Jack Ass of a Guard stop to notice Milne was wearing a Canadian Olympic Athlete Jacket? or that his carry on bag was a bag designed just for our Team Members? I dislike anal people...very much!

and another sorta local story of a 'self proclaimed environmentalist" gent from Ottawa (the cit~iot) who recently purchased some lake front property in a northern community (Kilarney) After taking his refuse to the local dump one day, he has began a campaign...calling in his 'environmental lobby friends' to join his cause. It would seem he is troubled by the fact he spotted thirteen bears at the dump eating garbage. He is concerned that there is a large campground 3kms away, what about the safety of those campers?? and the safety of local RESIDENTS. His campaign is to raise awareness of this problem to petition the local community to erect fencing around the dump to stop the bears, possibly going as far as electrifying the fence line to ensure they stay out. Now don't get me wrong...when the bear was spotted on our street last week...and returned to our neighbours within thirty minutes despite being chased off by man and dog...I was ready for the nuisance to be shot...I am Mama! update..the bear has not returned, and no tracks visible in daze. BUT is this the first time this guy has left his concrete jungle?? has he considered by closing the dump off to the bears..they will follow their noses 3kms over to those campers?? One of the best parts of long weekend fishing trips as a child was the end of the weekend, and the trip to the dump to get rid of our garbage and WATCH THE BEARS??? I am guessing any local RESIDENTS know the bears R there when they go to the dump, I even know of many local dumps that R built in consideration of the bears....a bigass hole that you lob the garbage into...the bears go down there you don't?~! I wonder if this guy and his lobby Friends are going to do the fundraising to for the cost of enclosing an entire country dump with hightech fencing for the bears too? cause from what I know of Northern Communties..there isn't really alot of money to go around....just for the bears to go under! dumbass!

Morning Chai..outta chai today..sipping on some Jasmine

Our Pets...not a post yet, I think usually under wildlife? Daisy learned the hard way over the weekend about chasing cars...not surprised however she seems to have tucked and rolled and bounced right back being annoying as ever...despite a big hole in her leg. The rodent is still surviving? and the two baby snakes in my antique can? will not be pets...will be released today!

Loony thoughts....

Hope you all have a fantastically fucking loony day!!!

Happy tears, lots of Giggles, and Smiles all Around!

yesterday, although circumstances were not the best...was a most fantastic day!
The day I finally got to hug my stranger friend...sista friend Niecey~! A most beautiful woman who I have cherished over the past year or so online! I cried when I heard her voice on the phone 'hello loony? is that you" I cried when I saw her pull in my driveway when she heard "shut the damn camera off I am blubbering here!" and then I smiled (more tears) and giggled as we stood hugging and holding eachother as though we had known eachother our whole lives~! We shared some tea in the kitchen, a walk around the acres, and an afternoon of moments of pure joy. My camera was off to the side as I watched my friend snapping away, smiling and having a chance to breath after a long weekend of caring for her brother. So much my sista does for sooo many people, an inspiration she is for me...strength beyond words, love oozing from her smile...truly a yellow day!

Today monday and all I can think about is...when will I get to hug her again!
But I must get in the mode...the countdown is on~! Five more sleeps until my beach boy returns for the final two weeks of summer holidays. Five more sleeps till we make the journey back home for another round of Family Insanity. The Family ReRun 2008. 27odd years this picnic has been running, when people from all over.. Canada and the USA come together in the park in my home town to spend the day with eachother. A thorn in my love's side cause it is afterall a full day of Family Insanity...but for me?! One of those great daze where I can watch my children, and their cousins running and playing like crazzee little goonies together again...memories of when it was me as a child with my cousins doing the same. Our chance to go camping, visiting, and SMILING! my job this week...organize the food table for the reunion(augh!) dread the dreaded dreads back into shape (6hrs of hell) figure out how to jam everything into the hyundai accent..with room for my beach boy's return (what stuff to leave behind in my sisters garage!) and try to get the laundry on the line between the scattered showers here in the north! not to mention keeping a watchful eye on the goonies...who it would seem must wait and watch for my love to go to work...hubby leaves 8:15am...goonies arrive 8:25am~!

The last day of the farm!

Well its official...I am no longer responsible for waking up each day and feeding chickens! The last eleven birds are in a cage @ the butchers waiting for their demise, and to be roasted to perfection @ a later date. I am finding though...they are handy little things in the freezer! My love came home from work yesterday with a jar of pickled beets from the 'little old lady' he is working for now. Today I am sending him to work with a frozen chicken to trade for MORE pickled beets! They R fantastic...pickled the old school way with a hint of garden dirt! I love love love trading and bartering for things!

On a new BLOG note...I am starting a new post label today....Local News that Drives me Batty! Just stuff around the area reported in the news that makes me go hmmmm?

so lets start with some news from back home.....in the area Owen Sound. Now apparently, if you go by the news reports from Toronto (citiots!) the story is reported as follows..... Poor Black Tourist in Small Town Owen Sound mugged and stabbed @ Tim Hortons, portraying the small city as a redneck area that people of color should beware of as the locals are racist. The truth the news is not reporting (which I have been filled in by my sister...via her MIL who has lived in the area all her life) Truth be told...the poor innocent black tourist @ tim hortons was actually a crack dealer from Toronto who responded to a local GIRL he has supplied with an addiction to crack by punching her in the face a few times when he didn't want to give her a "fix" When the local GIRL made it home swollen bruised and bloody and explained to her country cousins why she was in such rough shape...her country cousins found out the crack dealer, told him to get the hell out of dodge with his dirty drugs, and let him know in a small city like Owen Sound, the country folk do not take kindly people punching out women... a fight ensued resulting in the poor black crack dealer being stabbed. Now I do not EVER condone violence, but I have to say it makes you go hmmm??? when the news reports portray this story like this!

Another one that comes out of the surrounding area of Toronto is a terrible situation where a young girl of twelve was picked up walking home one night and assaulted by a man...a man known to police to be a creep, who also is the topic of a facebook group involving his neighbours due to his creepy behaviour. Now it sickens me that men like this roam around lurking for their next prey, but ya have to wonder ... 1. what the fuck were the parents of this twelve year old girl thinking letting her be out so late @ night ALONE at 1am walking the streets? and 2. why does it seem lately like facebook has more truths and answers about these stories than the freak'n news and police? should we all get a facebook account and start searching groups for what is really going on?
It really bugs the shit out of me the freedom...lack of supervision/safety that parents give their children!! Do they use their heads when they send their CHILDREN out on the streets alone? People often say that my love and I do not let our children out of our sight enough, need to trust that they will be safe! Well the first and last time we allowed Aspen to go for a sleepover to a friends...I called @ 7:30pm to say goodnight (in winter) only to be told the girls (ages6-7) were not home from tobogganing down the street! This was after dark, a block away from a major road in North Bay, and on a street with no sidewalks!! I was ready to flip out and go get my child...but instead I remained calm (knowing Aspen would freak more!) and requested the MOM go and pick the girls up right away. Needless to say, Aspen is no longer allowed to go for playdates there. Maybe I am paranoid, my love is even worse...but I figure I would rather have them @ home safe and sound and happy ! Preparing them for what they may face out on the streets of today. So far...my kids know that if anyone looks at them funny tries to touch or go near them ...scream your head off...tell the person to FUCK OFF OR MY DAD WILL KILL YOU!

The funny little secret I can NEVER say aloud!

I am still giggling at the thought of it, and feeling guilty cause in a sense I know that I have passed this on to my child...given them both the ability to sleep walk and talk without being aware of their actions...no memory of the things they say or do when the sun rises the next day.

Last night, kidlets in bed sleeping soundly after a busy day of play, quad'n, and general goonie fun. My love in the tub for a soak after a long day, and me~signing out of the web...ya know flickr'n! Suddenly I hear Daddeo shouting...."MUM!!! no RYKI stop!! what the hell R you doing? Don't!!!" I jump up to see what was up and see Ryki walking thru to bed, climbing up, and zonk! out like a light. I go into the bathroom to see my love shaking his head! what's up?? I asked. It would seem as though my wee man "woke" up with a thirst, entered the bathroom, turned on the tap.....and filled Aspen's RUNNING SHOE with water! Sucked back his drink from the SHOE and carried on to bed!

This is my secret giggle of the day! I made Daddeo swear he would never speak of this story out loud, because I know it will be the beginning of a never ending link to torture....if Aspen ever finds out this tidbit of info....Ryki will never hear the end of it....giggle giggle giggle!!!

other little tidbits today?

after the huge storm the other night, this morning the raging river (formerly babbling creek) seems to have dropped A BIT...of the five feet it rose? I think its dropped a foot!

While cleaning out my various boxes last night, sorting deleting, remembering I have noticed a habit in my online writing that has annoyed ME! I notice I write ~LOL~ ALOT..many times thru out a message. So now I have decided it annoys me and I am going to attempt to stop. It is not that I am LOL'ing that much but really just smiling as I type. Is there a short form to express the smiles on your face when sending messages? or is LOL all we really have? I have found in the kidlets new Dictionary a page in the back that is a glossary of text messages?? I found it odd at first, but then I read them and actually learned a few things! go figure (...) so a mission for myself maybe...what to type instead of the annoying LOL. possible replacements ....

ILS ~insert Loony smiling
IASAIT ~ I am smiling as I type
LIH~ Loony is happy
TYFMMS Thank you for making me smile

feeling like its Monday...yes the day started to early!

so now it is the alarm clock that has been possessed~! Not that it is set for any ALARM time cause my eyes seem to open around 6am anyways?! BUT it would seem the time on the clock has jumped 52minutes ahead. So when i thought i was getting up and outta bed at 6:45 this morning...it was before six! Still a good time to release the hounds...early enough to set the Daisy free...I thought~!

I opened the do0r and the barking started right away! The WTF bark that means there is something to chase. A deer maybe? its been a while! so there I am in my boxers and a muscle shirt checking out the situation. Low and behold the local law enforcement decided to do the "street check " today at 6am?! he was stopped at the end of the driveway on the road with both girls barking!
"geeze its a little early for crooks isn't it?" I asked..."just drive on the dogs will be fine" He told me he didn't want to "squish them" and waited for them to come home...hahaha not my girls~! Daisy jumped right up on his door with the window open and blessed him with a big slurpie good morning lick on the face! Good giggle for me, early in the AM

I am needing the giggle right now as I am torn~! Torn between the fact I love to watch the little goonie tribe playing on the acres in the sunshine, and the fact that it seems like seven daze a week...I have a couple extra heads to watch, clean up after (they R pretty good when asked) and feed 9-5pm. I am feeling like calling their Mama and requesting a phone call before they turn up on the door step...maybe a box of KD, or water bottles? I know I claim to be a cheapskate, and its not really the fact of feeding them a $.77 box for lunch, but a month into summer...the juice, snacks, lunch, sun tan lotion, etc is kinda adding up? I am running out of the good stuff before the week is over?! I actually had to tell them this weekend to go home for lunch cause I was taking the weekend off! they were back in twenty minutes flat ready to play again! So what to you do? I am grateful we have friends on the street, and truly do love these kids but have to wonder? I would never dream of letting my kids be 'elsewhere' 7daze a week. There have been offers of letting our goonies go to their house...but hubby has already politely told all...'his kids will not be going for play dates this year" I can't blame him, I would feel nervous enough, supervision of children play is HIGH on the list for Daddeo's requirements, and we just R not seeing it down the street.

so on to the day...groceries, post office, odds and ends here and there, and maybe a goonie free day...maybe for a couple daze~! This homeschooling Mama is starting to count the daze till the kids go back to school!

Friday...sunshine..and a long weekend~! what could be better

Well besides the fact that Friday also means I have to clean the house..and catch up on laundry after a few daze of rain this week....life on the Acres could not be better!

My birthday Wednesday was fantastic...a day of lollygaggin, stuck in traffic...giving me the opportunity to take pics, and lots of giggles and laughter. Last year we were swimming @ the Rock, this year the temps did not comply for that.

This weekend...the civic long weekend, and oddly enough...it would seem as though....we will NOT be having company for a change. So while I will be missing Aunti Stix, and she will be missing us~! It also means that this may be our weekend to get away...a trip of sorts! Invited to spend the weekend at a friends cottage on the lake. A beautiful spot with friendly folks, a boat ride away from traffic, neighbours and the computer????! One of Ryki's fav spots to visit where he can spend his daze on the end of the dock with his fishing pole~!

Been a busy week for goonies too~! Here everyday from 9-5...Camp Loony has been hop'n. But eyes on the goonies will be wider today...funny how fast two little boys can get themselves in trouble...stretching the boundaries of acceptable fun (making large messes everywhere) But to be honest there is nothing better than watching these kids play explore and imagine their way thru the day. Not to mention the giggles I get as the boys spy, harass and aggravate the girls 'in the kitchen"

and the RASPBERRIES r here~! holy cow...so many berries~! The goonies have been given an area to free range and pick away...I have saved a special spot just for me..hee hee. Composting here can be enticing for the local bear population, so I have let that spot go to the raspberries...HUGE PLUMP AND DELISH (my spot!)

on a gardening note...lesson learned this year~! when you use the 'chicken coup' for natural reused fertilizer on the garden...with it will come enriched soil yes...BUT it also makes your garden resemble a barley or oat field...as the fertilizer has laid some seeds~! I keep telling myself it is a natural camouflage for the rabbits...they can't see the carrots and lettuce growing in the middle...but really...I need a tiller~! My peas R slowly coming back after being raided by the goon squad, the beans R growing, and even my carrots seem to be thriving...so besides the hay field in the garden (which just gets pulled and fed back to the chickens!) I think all is good.

On to my day!
