KETCHUP~!

WOW! April???!!! since I blogged? WTH?! Well... I do feel a little guilty for neglecting the blog, I can also say... SPRINGing into Summer on the Shoeless Acres has been busy! Many daze in the sunshine, getting dirty in the garden, and hook'n by the pool watching my growing Fric, Freak, and Frac swim their way thru the day.

So much that I could KETCHUP on ... so much that I have missed 'reporting' I am not sure where to begin??!

I even missed announcing here my exciting adventure! A work in progress... a learning experience for this Loon , mastering and exploring the world of online sales. My first ever dive into a webstore, a place to put my hook'n adventures for now, and with any luck (and time, and more figuring) a place to share my love of photography and the things I capture thru my lense.

Of course... being the cheapskate Loon I am .. starting off with the FREE site, the one I can test out the waters, and see how it goes... also another spot I need to pay some attention to, while I have many thoughts in my heads and changes to make... finding the time at the keyboard proves tricky these days... BUT none the less... now open for business... stay tuned cause I have some new hats to post!

Loose Strings By Loony .. Original Happy Hat Creations by ME!

So to keep things short and sweet... insert giggle here (things R generally sweet ...not always short!) some KETCHUP

da' Farminals

my birds...my sweet birds are laying their eggs again following a chilly winter. I am finding the extreme HEAT affects them just like the COLD, but still happy to be collecting eggs once again. The kids have taken to naming a few, something new for us, as with our previous meat birds, we avoided names ... just something about knowing the name of your dinner on the plate. While it was sad to find Ryki's friend "Little Beak" behind the barn missing a good chunk from her neck, I am happy to report his friend "Abigaile" seems to have overcome her 'droopy butt syndrome" and is walking the line just fine. And our little friend "Peggy" well she may only have one leg, but hop hop hop... she is still dropping eggs! We are down to 10hens now following the winter season, with Clucker the Rooster still clucking strong... ALL DAY AND EVERYDAY! And while I was collecting 9eggs a day, with Little Beak gone, and the weather so hot... these days its about only five... BUT I am not complaining! They are DELISH! I have recently discovered and decided.. with the added cost and taxes (thanks HARPER >>>NOT) the price of feed for the girls has become just silly. After doing some research...the next feed bag will be just plain old SCRATCH (just corn and bits) rather than the MASH (special for laying hens) I have noticed while they eat the MASH part is what they leave behind, and while the little chipmunks enjoy it... why should this cheapskate pay?? After consulting my chicken guru's (uncle Bob'nFred) my suspisions were found true... I have a rooster...thats what those little MASH pellets do...so I don't need them?! wish I had of figured that out a couple months ago?! I have one big hen however who I suspect is in the mood to brood, and while my girls all share the same spot for laying...this is proving to be tricky....?? do I mark a special egg with an X and see if she will stay? Will the other girls in the pen accomodate this mama and switch up their spot to give her that one? its still a debate, and still a "too bad I am eating the egg" situation.. I will just wait and see...stay tuned!

WILDLIFE...

Happy to report ...no bears this spring! while we have found many a track of moose and deer , the bears have not come up the hill for our exploding berry patches, bird seed and feed.

The damn dogs I love are doing their jobs...barking at night reminding the wildlife... WE R HERE WE R HERE WE R HERE!!! Nishka, forever my nanny is showing her age more and more these days, reaching the ripe old age of THIRTEEN this September, her lumps and bumps continue to be there, her hips a little more wobbly, and recently we discovered.. she is as deaf as a doormat. Fun times for the kids and dads teasing the dog, fun times for me reminding My Love... yell all you want, she won't get off the couch cause she can't hear you. A bonus that we have always used our hands, snapping and pointing cause while its taking the humans a while to adjust... the dog has this deaf stuff down pat ! Who would have thought we would be practising sign language for our dog! And Smokey... the tailess wonder, and cat that keeps coming back... our wee furball had and lost her first litter ever..in my sockdrawer?! Comes and goes around the Acres when she wants, here and there for a visit, running when there is company, still a little bugger I love. And of course what would the Shoeless Acres and this animal loving family be without adding something else to the mix... spending his birthday money, my wee Ryki finally got what he wanted... his own fish! Fighter Fire now spends his days swimming in my kitchen so to speak with morning greetings from a very proud boy "good morning little fishy and how is my little fishy today R U hungry?" Now I could end this part of today's KETCHUP with a mention of THE QUILLING... but I don't wanna jinx it... we have been QUILL free for a couple months so I would really like to leave it that way... damn dogs!

Family, Green Stuff, Healthy Eating, The Shoeless Acres Academy

With this Loon's homeskewl'n theories, also comes a Loony Schedule, once again this year bringing the paperwork to an end in May, we moved onto the summer learning... the work outdoors and the exploring in the gardens. One of those fantastic years here in the north when the weather, the sun, and mother nature all work hand in hand to produce some fantastic bumper crops. The wild berry patches exploding, providing us with daily treats of blue and raspberries to gobble up in the sun. The veggies... mmm so good, with my garden thriving! It took some work keeping the gobbling munchkins from eating everything before it had a chance to grow... redlisting Fric and Frac from eating all the tender baby leaves in the lettuce patch, reminding them .. that waiting for a few more days they would score more than just one pea pod a day.. YES its a great year in our garden... ! While we still wait for the tomatoes to turn red, we managed to score our first crop of taters this week, and our salads are a staple at the dinner table. There is still the work, the weeding and the killing of the little rat bastards daily, but always with little helpers willing to work, anxious to harvest and ready to gobble!

So onto another beautiful day on the Acres... time to feed the chickens, release them from their coup, round up the brats and lock them in 'the dungeon' cause the mess known as their bedroom is just insane, and get my Friday chores done today... cause tomorrow is my birthday! and I am NOT doing chores! and the best present I could even get... Our Beach Boy arrives home for the weekend.

more KETCHUP to come soon.

and since I linked to the pics ... lets go for it and post one here... see the top cause I am not in the mood to drag... ;O) A local hiking spot here in the north, a new family fav for a little picnic lunch, and exploring the trails... Duchsenay Falls, North Bay Ontario... nature at its best!

The Big 35

So yesterday was the day... the day I turned the Big 35, another year gone by and a day made fantastic by many birthday wishes from many peeps that I have loved... before now and forever. A fantastic fucking day. Hard to believe really ... that I could be so lucky...so spoiled to be here...with my kids... with my love... with my friends and family. I remember the Big 25, sitting in a restaurant having dinner with my folks, announcing it was time for ME, time for ME to do what I wanted, and to head off for yet another adventure to celebrate turning the Big 25. The plans were set, knapsacks packed, and I was heading west with my trusty dog Nishka and my good friend Jessica. Hitch hiking thru the nation to hit the west coast. Now as fate would have it, I would slip off a slippery curb only daze later, just enough of a fall to shred the ligaments in my foot once again...just in time to change my plans, just in time to NOT go west. Instead, limping my way down the highway, Nishka by my side, I made it to Wasaga Beach, to my sista's house, to the sunshine, the sand and the water... to find my love, to fall in love and then to be blessed and spoiled to have my kids happen along the way. Who would have thunk it... the girl at 25 declaring myself tooo selfish for kids, to selfish to stick around... a decade later, smiling and laughing with my family, enjoying the most perfect day in the sun, LOVING the life that is mine!
yes...I am a spoiled Loony... I am thankful for that every day, for my family, my children, my life...even if I have to be 35~!
We have been busier than stink around here lately, the usual for summertime on the Shoeless Acres where the driveway is like a revolving door...company in .. company out. We actually managed a road trip last weekend, trek'n off to Cambridge to help out the family with some windows, and to visit with the peeps who are and always be...part of my fam. A reunion of sorts with the folks who gave me soo much many moons ago, a teenage runaway who found a family full of love and support. I was happy all these years later to help out, to visit and reconnect. The best part of course was hanging with my brother Wayne. Chosen brother for life, my best friend and part of my family. He came from Montreal for the weekend with his own Love and his newest addition to the fam... his first born son...a handsome wee lad of just five weeks(now six weeks!)...William. Once a year I am lucky enough to see him, but now... after holding, snuggling and plain old falling in love...that will just have to change... a trip to Montreal will have to be booked in the calendar...cause damn it...seeing that little bundle of joy grow and change over the past week.... nothing is better... the smell of his baby freshness, the joy of watching him figure out how to get that little thumb to his mouth, the love I felt when he would look up and smile at his aunty Loony... Wayne and the fam left yesterday after a few daze here...I miss them already, but will be smiling for weeks ... I will not wash my sweater...I will snuggle and smell that baby freshness for as long as I can... I will remember how lucky I am...he is here and part of my family!

and on a general update on the Shoeless Acres... hmmm?? Our beach boy returns today for another week of fun. I have been holding his siblings back from the garden a little this week, so I we can share in the fun...the peas, the broccoli...its all coming in. With any luck...the raspberries will be ready soon too!!! woot woot for Fric Frac and Freak and another seven days of fun!!!

playing tourist this week with the family we found a most awesome spot just outside of town. A place to play, explore and hike up along side a waterfall...perfect for a picnic in the sun. We didn't even make it all the way to the top...but that just makes our return trip more exciting.

We have a new addition to the wildlife around here as well...one that was not planned, intended and even attempted to ditch...but one that seems determined to survive and stick around. Smokey Racine showed up on our door last week, and being the Loon that I am I just couldn't leave her to the wild to be gobbled up MORE so I gave her some food, some shelter, and daze later...requested my housesitter 'get rid' of the cat before our return from our trip. 'getting rid' of the cat resulted in a two block trip down the road on a quad... the cat jumping off and rolling into the ditch to 'not be seen again' ... on the road maybe...but the little furball managed to find her way back to our door, back to the Loony sucker that says... a survivor like that might as well stay...might as well join in on the fun around the Shoeless Acres. Little did I know then what I was in for or what I would end up doing...it resulted in ...eww yuck gross and gag.
(insert warning here... the following may be gross...but hell its loony reality and if you are here...you might as well know how crazy I really am!!)
It would seem as though our little kitty from the wild had experience some trauma on her journey here. her little kitty paw pads ripped and torn, and her tail...half missing ... chewed off, ripped off... it was not there, only half a tail for the little grey cat. So while bathing her up, and checking her out ... what should I discover? a large open wound on her remaining tail... and what should I find in that large wound... yes those unpleasant little things known as maggots!!! so hands washed and onto my laptop.... a google here, a phone call there, and twenty dollars at the pharmacy later.... I sat on the sidewalk equipped with some rubber(gloves) tweezers and some polysporin, some alcohol to kill the little fuckers and plucked away to make the little cat's day. Two days later it would seem I have fixed that problem... she may be a funny looker with half a tale, a short stubby pink nub at the end...but she is now our little funny feline. By my count...two lives (atleast) down and seven more to go. The newest feline friend to roam the acres... and I say roam cause she ain't coming inside. I lost one crock pot to a feline friend last year..and it ain't happening again

Can U hear it?! YES I CAN~!

guess what turned up yesterday?~! My freak'n phone was finally discovered yesterday after My Love had a brain wave and thought to check down in the bunkie. There it was sitting all alone on the table just waiting for a fresh battery charge. and there I was confirming my thoughts of mental possession...cause who else would take the phone down there? not me because I know..there isn't really any reception anyways?! and even if it wasn't My Love who put it there...I am going to blame him anyways~! Still its gonna be nice, and save me money cause there has been one tooo many *69's these past daze to see who's call we have missed.

Today the crunch is on for me though...when I leave this mornings blog I will start the to do list...
To Do
1. get the little dirty goonies in the tub
2. try to scrape out the last bits of 18hr lipstick from the tube for one last application till I buy a new one. (made claims to my love today bout needing to get food for the animals...really I need a new lipstick.....I am in need of relentless raisin ASAP
3. go to town, do the banking the feed supplies and bday party stuff....48hrs to go till the Acres is filled with goonies for the day to celebrate my wee man Ryki...turning SIX I can't freak'n believe its been that long
4. chop down the chives...its time for a fresh batch to grow I think
5. send a cheque to our awesome accounting God...YES I actually finished the taxes...late as usual..but thanks to THE MAN no penalties to face cause he got us (well not me..I am just an unemployed MAMA) a REFUND~! woo hoo
6. start thinking...new glasses woo freak'n hoo~! two armed glasses here I come...and with any luck...sunglasses too..which I swear I am not going to lose this time

stuff stuff stuff...better get my ass in gear~!
but final notes....
In the garden...my tee pea is growing like crazy with this recent weather...I found three pea pods yesterday~! happy happy happy for fresh peas. The asparagus hunt yesterday scored a spear for each of the kidlets...two of those being over a foot long...lucky grab those ones~! and still more popping through I am hoping to get some more planting in at some point...everything seems to be one month behind this year so whatever is planted now will be hit and miss I think if it grows
Wildlife...my Love has had enough of the daily snakes and enlisted the help of the lawn mower to take out a couple..now the mower is broke but he is keeping an old fashion sigh(SP?) handy for be-heading
Ryki spent twenty minutes the other day playing ring around the tree with a 'chippy' so cute the little guy (chippy) seemed to enjoy it as much as Ryki. Unusual around here...they R not usually so friendly much to the dismay of the kidlets. We have a friend that has a friendly chippy, he will come right up on your shoulder and take peanuts from your pocket, hand etc. Aspen has always loved that chippy, but gets frustrated when she can't catch them. I caught her a few years ago playing with one and asked her why she had her boots off....with a smile and a tee hee she said....I put a peanut in the boot, so when he goes for it I can catch him~! That was at the tender age of three?! wow how time flies~!

so off to the chores, preparations, and party plans.....party Saturday, bday Sunday and surprise celebrations for Ryki Sunday afternoon. We have been invited to join some friends for a magic show at 2pm...should be fun~!

oh ya...it finally kicked in yesterday...my beach boy is in full Shoeless action...I love that kid sooo much~! one more week to keep him home with us...ahhh~! with any luck some fishing next week with Dad...he may actually take a day off~!

Frost??!! WTF?!

ok so it is the end of freak'n MAY and this was the second morning I woke up to feed my chickens and the grass CRUNCHED beneath my feet? strange weather this year compared to last! I started planting the veggies last year the last week of April! Luckily my chickens R growing really well and R big enough o handle the cold..with the help of their heat lamp, and the hot water I add to their water dishes! Finally old enough to use my water tank by the coup...but still have to remember to bring the hot water bottles for them! spoiled birds! That was one of the bonus' where we built the coup.... Crafty old guy (previous owner) has the ease trough's on the barn hooked right up to a giant tank with a tap. Perfect for watering the birds and the garden.

The sun is at least shining today and melting off the frost, and supposed to warm up by noon hour...minus seven?! is just not cutting it for me...I have lots of weeding in the garden to get down!

The kids have been busy and do not seem to notice the cold...they see the sun and figure 8am must be time to play outside/?! Ryki started to practice the two wheel bike yesterday..woo hoo! very happy to see that he is ready for the next step. It started with Aspen helping him, and holding the bike, and now his stubborn little attitude has pushed on thru and he is determined to do it on his own. Such a happy mama! and proud!
I have never been one to push my kids to learn something until they decide for themselves to be ready. With Aspen..there was no stopping her on trying anything. With the boys however...time space and patience have got us thru. Alex was always a bit fearful of everything (brought on by his Mom and her fears I think) he hated going in the water, very nervous of trying to skate, bike etc. But now at nine he is a fish in the water, skates around like a demon, and while still a little akward on a bike...needs a spring refresher basically has come into his own and willing to try anything. Not to mention his little sister who has no problem yelling out...'for crap sakes Alex, its just a slide once you try you will like it!" fearless kamakazee Jane!!! So I am really hoping this is the year for Ryki...two wheel bike and maybe even putting his face in the water! LOL he does but only with goggles on!

on a sad note on our Acres, I am thinking it is time to accept we have lost a cat. My handsome striped cat Squawker has not been home for two weeks. I was hoping he was out roaming and 'studding' maybe being spring, but I think it is time to declare him M.I.A. and P.E.B.W. (presumed eaten by wildlife) he has gone the same way as his Mama. I will miss him, as he was always the first to cuddle and purr and so photogenic (IamterribleIknow!) A shame really because around here he was the summer champ on taking out the rabbits in the garden, so I am counting on Mon Nom his brother to step up to the plate...or Mamakat to earn her keep..although she tends to just kill and drop the carcass on the step...my boys would eat them, leaving the hind legs for Daisy!

"honey do you hear a car honking??"

"MOM THERE"S A LADY IN THE DRIVEWAY!"
Great...that was at 6:10am this morning! My thoughts...I had just let the dogs out at 5:55am...maybe Daisy got hit by a car?

Why is it that whenever "a neighbour" has something to complain about it always starts with 'keep you fucking dogs tied up" along with two minutes of screaming many more profanities, and ending with "I will get my gun and shoot the dogs" Do these people ever realize that 1. screaming makes it hard to hear the complaint? and 2. its probably not such a great idea to stand on someone else's property threatening to get a gun out and shoot something infront of the two children sitting in the window and their father...who was resting in bed five minutes earlier?

So according to this woman, my girls had 1. been down to her house and killed the pet rabbits in her back yard 2. ripped the shit out of all the gardening and her yard and she "had three witnesses to prove it" Next time I see your dogs I will shoot them?!

Now anyone that knows my hubby would tell you NEVER speak like that infront his children, never come and make threats while standing on OUR PROPERTY, and good grief make sure you can back up your accusations especially at 6am! So when I asked the lady for her name and address for my own records of her threats she suddenly yelled I live on ***RD, skipped devulging her name jumped in her car and drove away.

Note on the dogs....they were both in the porch waiting to come in when the honking began...outside for a total of fifteen minutes with no garden dirt...rabbit blood or any sign of the accusations. Upon calling to MOFO's we were told...ya the dogs were down here for their good morning play but heading straight home (not in the direction of the irate lady...not any further down the street than they EVER go) but "K" did notice the car followed the dogs down the street.

So camera in hand (damn digitals R handy) Hubby drove down to investigate finding the irate lady suddenly timid? upon entering her back yard and explaining he would like to see the damage down and take photos of the shredded pets for record suddenly the story had changed. There he was looking at a large cage in the backyard..formerly the home of the rabbits. A 3ft high fence with NO ROOF, built with chicken wire and a big hole dug and ripped out of the corner of it, along with various puffs of rabbit fur thru out the grass. Apparently the pet rabbits were killed over the weekend (FIVE F"N DAZE AGO?) but her son was sure he saw a "golden dog" in the yard. So calmly hubby explained the following...
1. do not EVER step foot on our property threatening gun use infront of his children again or he will call the police
2. IF Daisy wanted to kill the damn rabbits...she would not need to rip apart the three foot fence...she would hop over it and get them as would any other dog??!!
3. Daisy has been tied to a tree for the past couple of weeks, and beside the last few daze first thing in the morning...is NOT allowed to roam the neighbourhood
4. Do not try to come and bullshit a story without backup...get your camera and snap a photo of our dogs in your yard...otherwise...stay on your own property and the hell away from ours!.......ie/ three witnesses to what/?? sweet fuck all I would say!!!

Augh these stupid people...keeping rabbits in a yard where we R surrounded by wildlife (the killing kind?!) without having them caged in ?! blaming my dogs for what? nothing!! and at 6am??! I would say it is her that owes an apology this morning not me and my damn dogs!

so seeing as I am already bitching...lets talk about wasteful government spending that is driving me f'n beserk! recently there has been a new commercial on TV funded by the Cdn. government "telling parents to learn the new Drug language of today to know their kids, and protect them" this commercial has children around the age of Aspen all in a row saying each of the new names for drugs with the actual name of the drug written on the screen. So now whenever the commercial comes on I have my five and seven year old repeating them all...."love drug, juicy, green" etc. Now my thoughts on this....who the fuck do they think they are teaching about drugs to? do they really think the parents R watching and learning? how many other little kids R sitting at home like mine, and many others memorizing the words on the commercial? Learning today's language on drugs??? WTF were they thinking? and why is my tax money being spent on this stupid "educational commercial" All I can say is .. I am glad Aspen isn't reading yet ... putting all these new and old names together...which I can only imagine would sprout more questions in her little mind!

Thank goodness for Friday! After a long week of solid rain I am looking forward to some sunshine and more gardening this weekend

and to end this post of wicked tongue....a fantastically wonderful shout out to my long lost Virginia sister.....in the mail yesterday was a package of love! My stranger friends Kim and M have shown me and my family here more love in the last (less than !!) year with their thoughtful cards, gifts and YELLOW.........I cannot thank you enough!!! You have touched my life in ways you will never know! I am blessed to have you in my life!
I am a very spoiled 'head on a stick' with a whole new family ... Thanks Kim and M.......and the rest of my rblog'n family!!!

is it lunch time yet??

well the day started at 5:30 am this morning...animals!!! Nishka whining to go out...Mofo(still here) whining to get in...Ryki whining for his morning tea...ahh....I can escape and just go outside to feed my chickens, listen to the birds and leave Daddy to put on the kettle.

I have given up on taken Mofo home...the dirt that is in my car?! I am not looking forward to that cleanup. I have discovered however it is alot easier to just lock the big bastard up in the barn (NOT where my chickies R!) and let Daisy out on her own. She is not liking his advances today.... I hope that means it is almost over...who's gonna tell Mofo?

Exciting news on the wildlife front (sadly without a photo...but a new mission!) Went to check on my canoe this morning after all the rain yesterday and discovered.... a big ass beaver in the pond! Now don't get me wrong...if I do not like what he is up to .. he will have to go ... (Our neighbour 'cooter' is the local beaver trapper...LOL) but until then...a new Loony hunt for pics of the beaver....damn why did i not have my camera!!! but the pond was beautiful so when i returned with Camera in hand to find the beaver MIA...I grabbed some reflections of the morning sunshine. (hmm....just noticed and thunk...why would I capitalize Camera above/? like its a person... a trusted friend... like I am referring to someone by name??? LOL loony thoughts in the morning)

so still busy getting ready for the weekend....still excited about who may actually turn up for the holiday....ya just never know who may decide to make the trip outta all my friends and fam.

Hit the $$store yesterday for a couple of things for the kids. They were paid five bucks for puppysitting Milo last week. I just love taking them their with their money in hand. They pay for it themselves...they now know that for every dollar you spend...you need a dime and a nickel for 'the damn taxes" and the things they choose? last time they had two things to choose each. They each chose a new bug house for summer (which have come in handy over the past week!) Aspen chose a "blush" from the makeup section and Ryki chose a spiderman toothbrush!
This week...each chose a butterfly (frog/minnow/jimmney's-crickets) net and Aspen...a make up mirror Ryki...bag of rubber bag of fish. I am seeing a trend here with Aspen and her makeup...poor kid this mama doesn't do makeup LOL will need to find her a good teacher. Ryki opened his bag of fish to discover....someone screwd up and threw in a seal in the bag! bonus! identify all the different fish whales dolphins etc and moved them into the bathroom sink filled with water...he plays for an hour at the sink talking to his fish?? but keeps a special jar beside the sink .. if you need to use the sink...you need to keep his plastic fish in water in the jar!

the incident...

Living in a rural area, and on the dead end of the street, generally things on the acres are wonderful. Generally the children play in the yard, the dogs run free, and we putter about our day. Yesterday ... the inncident. Dennis was working in the shop, the kids were playing in the melting snow, and the dogs were lying under their tree together enjoying the mild weather. Next from the window I see the girls take off towards the end of the Acres, and I hear them barking. So ok, either 1. they saw a deer or moose or rabbit or fox etc or 2. there is someone on the street with a dog. So boots on, outside I go to "man whistle" the girls home, which is a 50-50chance if I can get the man whistle out, or if they will return right away. But it wasn't the dogs barking anymore it was a man shouting every form of the f word in the book telling the girls to "git" So I call Dennis, he gives the man whistle, and the girls return with their heads held low knowing...we are in trouble now, because they know they are not suppose to do that. But no it doesn't end there, here comes the man and his wife storming towards our driveway walking two huge bull mastiffs. The couple...I have never seen before, and the dogs...I think I would remember Denis crossed the yard to speak to the man...who is once again shouting and cursing, and once again having to listen to the barks of my girls, (as he stood at the end of my driveway screaming obsentities) So I instructed the kids to just run inside for a moment, and approached the couple and Dennis, who had Daisy in toe by the collar...Nishka is not a dog that is caught by anyone in this situation. The man is shouting "get your f'n dog...she is going to attack these dogs, and we are bording them at our kennel up ;the road." (i will stress the f word was inputted every second word)"you can't just have a rottie running free to attack...these dogs are worth thousands of dollars"

WTF????????????????????? so dennis calmly replied that while he was sorry the dogs had barked ....at this point the man shouting obsenties on the street in front of the kids was more of a nuisance than the barking dogs, and that he needed to calm down. He also told the guy that we would not own dogs that attacked let alone let them run free, and obviously since they had walked over a hundred feet to scream at the end of the driveway .... the dog had plenty of time to eat the couple and the dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I understand the whole...dogs on leash, and under control but holy crap....I had a freak'n bear in the yard for an hour and a half last spring, I have had the neighbour next door warn us ofthe pack of six wolves last week! They are dogs only barking! They bark when there are two strange dogs walking around our acres...yes they leave the property to do so, but hell they know damn well where the kennel is....if they were problem dogs they would be up harrassing the dogs running the agility course every weekend....they never have gone there! They will only walk with people/dogs on the road to the edge of our property and then come home....with the exception of the direction of Mofo...when they will walk with the neighbours down to his house...play for ten minutes and come home...usually with Mofo in toe! This couple of freak'n dog people yet still somehow they cannot see past the black and tan of Nishka, they cannot take the time to see she is grey now around the mouth and old!!!! So during the incident...I stood back and bit my tongue, let Dennis handle the situation...and he looses all respect for people who swear and shout infront of children so he handled things very well. He told the guy feel free to call the cops...I don't give a shit....ie...guess the dogs will have to be tied for the coming week! But to further my frustrations....ten minutes later the same damn couple comes driving down our street (past the post speed limit) to only turn around and basically crawl past our driveway....only antagonizing the dogs more!!!!!! Nishka, proudly however who was not tied only stood at the end of the drive barking furiously at the big truck as the man sat and gawked!!!!!!!

So now...I will tie the damn dogs up (except in the wee hours of the morning, and probably after dark) and I will wait and see if I get the visit from the local enforcement....but let me tell you should these f'n neighbours choose to raise an issue...the feisty will prevail, and I will be raising some issues of my own! drive down our road exceeding the speed limits, in vehicles, four wheelers, and sleds ignoring the helmet laws, and the safety of those who may be on the road!!!(ie my kids!!!which is one beneift of my free running dogs....Nishka will step out to slow the a-holes down because she is and has been for the last ten years...the best damn nanny my kids could every have!!!)

I have been a dog owner all my life, I worked at a kennel caring for over sixty dogs at a time....I am a large dog lover yes, but damn I wish they people would see past the black and tan of my Nishka, I wish people would get off the pot and see the small children in the yard with the big dog and think about something other than...she is going to eat us!!!!! I wish the damn media would actually report more than just the stories about the rotties, and the pitbulls...because I know for a fact it is NOT the rotties and the pits that bite the most...why don't you ever see the news report about the pretty golden retrievers that bite and who are amoung the highest of the biters. One of the main reasons we chose Daisy is for her golden color! I love my black and tans, our doberman was the biggest loaf of a dog you could meet, but sadly in this day and age a dog of black and tan is labelled vicious in the blink of an eye!!!

Ahhhh....amazing how much better you can feel after a good chai and a blog...might just save the neighbours from the rath of a loony cannuck!!!!! Back to school today in the Acres...onto a new species, some yoga (augh!) and a musical refresher course for me to find, and a generally clean up after the chaos of the past two weeks....holidays over!!!!! Sadly (more gross) my clean up this week will also include the various "mousicles" around the walkways, and yard which are multiplying daily with the melting snow!
