the whole net thing... and privacy.. and what not
But then I went online... I got connected and quickly learned from various sites, peeps, stranger friends and things how to get along.. meet and make new family and friends. I am still terrible at the phobia stuff... still a newbie when it comes into signing in ... logging on or managing to get a picture to go where I want... but at the same time great at spamming my own life thru pics into the computer... the things I do thru the day... saving my pics safely online after learning the depression that follows when a hard drive fries and there are a 'lifetime' of photos on there.
With anything ... its always been privacy first... never do anything that may leave a trail... my name should never be googled and found... little did I know...its tricky... hell My Love can be googled and turn up a porn star! I have always been careful knowing the life a blended family can spin to pay attention to the privacy details, and whats available out there.
Facebook was one of those things, the public forum that opens the world up like a grand park in the centre of town. Where you can say anything... be anyone(you can't be in person...learned this one fast from experience!), and share .. the details... the smiles ... the rants and raves...and sometimes... REAL life.
Now speaking as a Mama ... facebook has entered the playground. Where I bitched about the age appropriate~ness... the reality of life on the net and the implications of things that can haunt you forever... I have relented and turned yet another corner... thinking I should consider 'the domains of their names' and let them at it. Reality says...they do not hotmail anymore...there is not much MSN on the screen... the kids, the teens...they are there... crack'n'da'book.
BUT... and here is the Loony Mama thought of the day...
there is still life...our own space... our lifespace that tiny bit of megabyte that the KIDS don't need to be, can't hear from the next room... that extra click in our day where we say.... those thoughts are private.
Now for me ... its a personal thing as well as a Mama thing... where I know the access granted is not just viewed by my wee Boy in the Beach...where there is another set of eyes... watching. But a thing to think about for all... cause as a personal pet peeve....
I really think too many little people get to be seeing the big people things... making their young and exciting living shorter than it really has to be.
I love the connections... the smiles shared, and the chance to say hello... but really... do our kids need to see the REAL WORLD YET?
I have a policy... something to think about ... something to share...
If ya gonna be the favorite Aunt... the cousin from a far, the mom, the dad, or the Gramma... do our kids and the rest of their school really need to Read All About It? (insert sarcasm here for any cannucks who may remember! LOL)
When you write your next status... just remember... 10 friends or 154... maybe 1002...
if you add a kid is it PG approved?
Resolution... when updating your latest status... click on that little padlock... click customize...and add kids under 18... it stays just that way... defaulted to block the little minds from big people thoughts... if you have something special...quarky or true... by all means change it for a moment and default back ...
AND... just in case... what if you don't know you can...
do you want friends of friends...of their friends knowing today is the day you have cramps? today is the day you got kicked outta the laundry mat? the day you fell down in the beer store ? dropping a case of beer and taking out your comfy walking for the next six months?
you can set that too....
privacy is a right we all have...we just have to have the know how to set it...to respect it and to show it... says A. Loon April 2010
just saying... its a thought... to remember...once you post it... once you hit enter... it goes past your screen and onto the big wide web.
I was once asked about my friends adding my kids... and I replied...anyone who is my friend is not just there to share...but to have their eyes open... to watch and protect.... I believe in my friends and fam to do this... have done it to my own wee family members... sharing the realities...the warnings, and the plain old thoughts on privacy and safety on the net...
as a note... TODAY compared to YESTERDAY... things change... like life and like tomorrow...
I have recently added a skype feature to my laptop... I am working on a new project online... and having a freaking KAnipTion fit doing it... the skype is fantastic...the project... a pain in the ass (so I enlisted HELP! ) and still I type here looking at the webcam thinking....
HAS IT BEEN HACKED?

Free Range
Trying out new stuff... we were gifted a kayak of the blow up kind (but seriously kickass) from our favorite the one and only Uncle Reggie and in no time at all Fric Freak and Frac were paddling their way across the water rounding the raft, and back again. Meeting new friends, and sharing the adventure. Who says one MAN kayak???? we can fit a couple right??? Needless to say... we'z be hoping Uncle Reggie can come across a couple more of these babies!!!
The Beach Boy who tends to be 'cautious' when it comes to anything involving adrenaline or speed past a pedal bike managed to muster the courage and try out the dirtbug~! and even enjoy it.. figure he will enjoy it more when there is a seat on it of course... 'hard on his ass' he claims... lucky for him wee Ryki has sprouted an inch or two and the seat will return!!!
and Kamakakee Jane once again showed up her bro's .. da' boyz when she tried, enjoyed, and LOVED tubing with new friends on the lake... IMO... she rides the waves a little TOO well~!
The Wildlife on the Acres has continued to learn and grow over the summer of 09 and I could not be happier...or prouder. No matter where our journey took us, there was smiles, laughter, and best of all .... many comments about the intelligence, the politeness, the overall goodness of my fric freak and frac... PROUD MAMA is an understatement! Proud of me wee brats, and proud that our loony ways of raising our kids has given us such bright and beautiful kids!!!
Our garden, I am proud to say produced many tasty veggies, our farminals... give us eight farm fresh eggs a day, and our newest addition Smokey the kitty has settled in becoming part of the crew, and has remained maggot free (thank goodness!) with any luck maybe Santa will bring her some new fur for the end of her tail for xmas!

Monday morning blah!
I am not a happy Mama when my kiddies R sick...what Mama would be really. But in general it is maybe twice a year that we hit that sick~zone, institute a quarantine around the Acres. Poor little Jane was so tired from being sick, and sick of being tired, she laid on the couch yesterday with tears streaming begging to go outside and ride her bike 'but it has been three daze Mama...I haven't even rode my bike, just one time around the yard and I will come back inside" I just couldn't deny that little face her wish, praying on the inside it was a sign the crud was finally leaving. Along the sickness journey though we came across a couple of helpful tricks. First a trip to the pharmacy as I have no idea where our thermometer is. I found the basic model, along with something new. A fever strip! $3.50 a reusable strip you just hold on one's forehead with a color tab lighting up the temps. less than a minute, no worrying about the stick being in the right place, under the tongue, and not being chewed on. As far as accuracy goes, I wouldn't say it is perfect, but damn close enough to let you know its time for more drugs. It comes in a handy dandy little case, small enough for a wallet... a keeper. And a comfort zone for the little ones, a spin on Gramma's cold cloth remedy. Take a few pieces of papertowel (which oddly I had in the house?!) fold in half and soak in water, place in a ziplock bag flat and freeze (less than five minutes!) remove, wrap in a bandana and voila...relief for tired little heads. Ryki tied his right to his Little head like rambo falling asleep to Saturday morning cartoons. reusable, and cheap with no wet mess dripping down your face.
This week a couple of countdowns begin. The first counting down the days till my brand new NIECE to arrive. October 7th our family will be blessed again with a little bundle of joy. My sister anxious for the bundle to arrive and leave her body, and my nieces excited about meeting their new little sister. The news of "its a girl" came last week after a visit to the BEST OBGYN doctor EVER! While the hospital holds a strict policy on not disclosing the sex of the baby, our doctor has no problem sharing the information with expecting M0m's, and now is equipped with the ultra sound machine right in her office. She even lets my four year old niece do the ultra sound on Mama! how cool is that?! I knew from the start she was the best Doctor ever when she let me finish the delivery of Aspen by pulling her out myself on the final push, but it seems she gets better and better with every new arrival. And always jokes with my sister that since meeting me, our family has given her some great business over the years...our family baby count to date...six!
So onto the planning of our week. Workng in some time for some photography cause the leaves R changing and the colors this year R so bright...just beautiful. Also time to clean the disater zone called the kids room again, as we prepare...twelve more daze till my beach boy returns for a nine day visit home to the Shoeless Acres...I can't wait!

feeling like its Monday...yes the day started to early!
I opened the do0r and the barking started right away! The WTF bark that means there is something to chase. A deer maybe? its been a while! so there I am in my boxers and a muscle shirt checking out the situation. Low and behold the local law enforcement decided to do the "street check " today at 6am?! he was stopped at the end of the driveway on the road with both girls barking!
"geeze its a little early for crooks isn't it?" I asked..."just drive on the dogs will be fine" He told me he didn't want to "squish them" and waited for them to come home...hahaha not my girls~! Daisy jumped right up on his door with the window open and blessed him with a big slurpie good morning lick on the face! Good giggle for me, early in the AM
I am needing the giggle right now as I am torn~! Torn between the fact I love to watch the little goonie tribe playing on the acres in the sunshine, and the fact that it seems like seven daze a week...I have a couple extra heads to watch, clean up after (they R pretty good when asked) and feed 9-5pm. I am feeling like calling their Mama and requesting a phone call before they turn up on the door step...maybe a box of KD, or water bottles? I know I claim to be a cheapskate, and its not really the fact of feeding them a $.77 box for lunch, but a month into summer...the juice, snacks, lunch, sun tan lotion, etc is kinda adding up? I am running out of the good stuff before the week is over?! I actually had to tell them this weekend to go home for lunch cause I was taking the weekend off! they were back in twenty minutes flat ready to play again! So what to you do? I am grateful we have friends on the street, and truly do love these kids but have to wonder? I would never dream of letting my kids be 'elsewhere' 7daze a week. There have been offers of letting our goonies go to their house...but hubby has already politely told all...'his kids will not be going for play dates this year" I can't blame him, I would feel nervous enough, supervision of children play is HIGH on the list for Daddeo's requirements, and we just R not seeing it down the street.
so on to the day...groceries, post office, odds and ends here and there, and maybe a goonie free day...maybe for a couple daze~! This homeschooling Mama is starting to count the daze till the kids go back to school!

Due to Current Weather Conditions....
DAMN IT! I am a bad Mama and forgot to stash a couple LOONIES in under his pillow last night?! what was I thinking?! (SLEEP!)
Dad-EO came to the rescue...quickly remembering the loonie on the bathroom floor this morning and handed it to the wee man...'Here buddy, take this buck and put your tooth back...its not gonna rain tonight!"
We will see how long the tooth fairy lasts~! Atleast those R the good kind...not like the ones on HELLBOY2...those little guys were nasty buggers!
It was pouring rain this morning and now at ten am??!!! blue skies and sunshine!!!! I love living here! The lake always blows stuff away, from what I hear lots of places around us (Toronto!) have not had such fantastic weather...boo hoo...come here then! haha Gotta shut down the fangdangled machine today and get my shit together! trip to town to do the run'n, and clean the house...the dog hair~! Nishka is molting right now ...and it is very clear she has Malamute in her cause there R chunks or fur, and Daisy! good grief. Our company this weekend..dog people who I had requested they avoid bringing their female right now cause my girls have been acting like jackass'Z! It was declared that the damn dog daisy was actually a pretty good dog, but the ugliest thing they had ever seen...wtf is with her hair was mentioned many times in the course of four daze! Suggestion of the week...maybe I should DREAD the hair on her back to do something with it?! stay tuned for picks on flickr..the suggestion is interesting.
update on the Acres today for Friday
Farminals...delivered twenty to the butcher this morning..ready by 5pm...bbq Saturday eleven chickens to go...next round september (august off!!! road trips!) lost a chicken of a heart attack over the weekend...common when they get large...helped along by the company
Company...when three thirty something guys drive 6hrs for a vacation here....
1~they remember what its like to be six again...playing with sling shots and playing in the creek finding?? frogs Aspen taught them the difference between girls and boy frogs cause the rule was...don't kill the mama's Ryki told the 'fathertobeinsept" not to shoot one of the biggies cause it was his
"B-otch" (thanks beach boy for bringing that word home!)
2~they remember what its like to be thirteen again when they spend their nights by the fire running from it to avoid the shrapnel, and explosions from the various things they found to blow up
3~Two motorcross bike broke on day one..one a clutch another a tire...thanks to our quad smiles continued
4~Boat broke in the middle of the Bay~! we paddled for a while, Ryki swam, then we gotta a toe
5~I had a fantastic fucking time~! Loved seeing my (chosen) brother for life, and the other two R great friends. No matter what happened, there was smiles and laughter the whole time voted by me and my love as the best guests of the summer soooo far....even trying to row our sorry asses to shore!

Lost
Lost...I swear this blogging stuff its therapy... I am lost today
It started with chickens, cleaning creek out of the bathroom, finding STUFF and our usual stuff. Ryki was the first to do the morning feed...which was @ 6am cause we were both up early thinking birds!!!
"birdie birdie birdie" thats what i call when I go in..proven theory LOL (my turkey's came running for me from the cemetary last fall after spending a wild night out on the street) We have 32 chicks still!!! Even the little gimpy one we kept in the house all day is fluffy yellow and going strong.
Lost ... again!
You know I am mama... today there is many Mama's with tears in their eyes, many Mama's who have shared in loss , and today there was a loss. The loss of a beautiful soul. I was only blessed by her smile, with pure joy in her face.
I am lost. This loss of such a soul is baffling to me, just totally unexplainable, unforgettable and unnecessary. I have issues with faith, I am lost, I have believe in the soul, I have belief in positive energy...the spirit...I have belief in being happy for life for good for believing!
but still today I am lost.
I am mama... and tomorrow I will wake up, hopefully at 630, I will hug my children, feed the chickens, and watch the sun come over the trees onto my Shoeless Acres....and for this lost soul I will wake knowing she has known and found the light of love, the place for such a beautiful energy to be...blessed is this child, blessed is this family, blessed that her beauty has been shared with me, and blessed that
and I am Mama.

Sunday Post??? Important for all the Mama's!!!
I AM MAMA AND A LOTION PRO
So now that its early spring, this pro was already prepared with my "winter tube" cause those cheeks need protected on the hill. What I was prepared for was
1. that damn dog named Daisy to decide to chew(EXPLODE) my tube on the kitchen floor
and
2. that there would not be one freak'n store outta the five I went to over the course of two days...Friday and Saturday to purchase new lotion.
I dont know who the hell is watching the calendar at the multiple grocery, drug and big box store...but there was very few tubes or bottles on the shelf this weekend. and what was there??? Great for the blonde bimbos looking for the perfect bronzing oil???!!!(no offense bimbos!)
Should they not be prepared for this season??
I realize I am picky...I still use the baby faces 50 protection on my kids....I trust more in the zinc ingred. factor in that lotion...and will admit I will not buy 'no name generic"(cheapskate me) brands for this product!!!
but the only option above bronze tanning and level 15 this weekend was the NEWEST thing on the market...the 'spray on lotion' level 30!!!
HERE IS THE WARNING MAMA"S
if you have children that play and say get scraped on the sidewalk, a tree, ya know normal kids stuff.......application of this new spray on technology includes alcohol to activate fast drying...AKA...torture for the kidlets for approx. 5-7minutes while the sting goes away.
I can say that the kidlets did not get sun burns following my application like clock work every four hours...but! (zinc/babyfaces lotion is good for six..minus extreme swimming) ) The bottle that cost the same as everything else...Loony estimate $10.00 incl. taxes!!!! is basically EMPTY following this mornings first application???!!!
And Aspen who has (knock on wood) never had any form of skin reactions.....has a rash on her inner leg that was not there yesterday before the lotion???!!!
Needless to say, Loony has been given some decent lotion by our friend "g" as I wait for the store shelves to be replenished.................and I will be spending part of my Monday Morning using my strategic phone bitching skills to complain to 1800-NEW LOTION SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If all goes well....they will be replacing the TEN BUCKs WORTH OF CRAP I purchased yesterday!!!!!!
