why is it when you have the chance to stay in bed on a Saturday morning, tucked under the covers for a lie in....you can't sleep? and worse..you get out of bed thinking..damn I could use a nap! I laid in bed this morning...listening and then yelling..let in the dog..Nishka is scratching and wants in....then listening as the tub was running and yelling ...who is in the bathroom? the water pump in the house is old and loud and next to my bedroom..."Just me Mom..I am giving Sam a bath" says Jane, who has been spending the past 24hrs creating new clothes for SAM out of the rag bag, sewing together new fashions for a doll that was once mine...given to me nearly 35years ago. To most a creepy looking thing, with stains of blue or green on her head, and eyes that just do not say "play with me" more like "I am going to git'cha" But despite it all, and the fact she has pretty little pink dolls, SAM is the one she wants, her buddy in the land of imagine.
Today a busy day for us as My Love arrived home from work yesterday complete with three new windows in the truck, soon to be ...a bay window for the kitchen...rather large I would say..but HE is the expert right? Its a chilly day and having my wall cut out is not what I would plan, but I suppose that is what layers are for right? and when its done???? The view will be fantastic!
so things I hear on the news that make me laugh or drive me batty....
Last night on Marketplace (cbc) they had a story about those new healthy products in the market for kids, I am sure I have spoke of them before..ya know ...those little yogurt drinks they jack up with fish oil to make your kiddies smarter??? well go figure when they ran the tests...can you guess how many of those little things your child would have to eat/drink/ or swallow to get the same amount of DHA as a piece of fish (ie/ tuna sandwich) ....and the number is...FORTY!!! now I laugh when I see them in the store because my kids eat fish...but how much would it add to your weekly budget to feed your child FORTY little drinks...feed your kids fish folks....its good for them! (oh and the slice bread with added goodness??? 219slices to get what you need from the bread)
on a note for CBC Canada's station, my favorite from all the rest...drives me batty they are forced to lay off staff...due to the recession? I would say due to the governments lack of funding...lack of reasoning to see...CBC is Canada...a good thing for the people...I am not looking forward to finding out what has been cut! radio or tv it is the best!
I am going on a new mission as I discover the joys of this new laptop...I can watch video's now ! I can make video's now..are they called videos when they are off the webcam?(correction...cybercam) but I still have to figure out...how do you get them to here???? how do I do that cool thing that links 'a word' on my blog to another site or blog? how do I learn all these things with my tech-challenged ways??? I could ask right??? I could say...hey you reading this right now?? Loony needs some hints!
but for now...today ...i must get my layers on, fill my fridge full of food because its looking seriously empty in there, and wait for the hole...in the wall...to be filled with a bay. A window for my plants this time...not the damn dog!

let it snow ! and let me ramble!
you know two days in a row i have woke up 'blog'n in my head' now i sit here and wonder..what the hell was it i was gonna say? what was that thought running thru my head? This morning the thoughts were running, the kids were up, and I clicked on the kettle only to see the time...6 freak'n AM?! A little early I would say..damn it! and chilly!
WE GOT SNOW! not last night, two days ago really but there is still some here and even the leftovers of the kids first snoman of the year. sadly taken out yesterday by the bright sunshine and blue skies. Kiddies R loving it though...they were out the door yesterday before 8am~! so with any luck it will melt away before halloween, and give me a chance to get the crap put away in the wrecking yard...toys do not fair well under the sno and path of the ski doo!
So...rambling lets seee......
in the news A young boy (tween?) from Barrie has recently gone missing and the story is in the news. his parents worried, but confident he is safe somewhere playing video games. now blaming his running away on his addiction to the games, . the news bringing up more stories to coincide showing the harmful effects of the video games....WTF?! this drives me nuts..who is buying the video games? who is giving it to the kids, and letting them play unsupervised for hours on end?! In my last post I referred to my beach boy as a city kid. I meant this in a loving way...I know that there are many city kids out there in the world today who do not have the space to run and play in the concrete jungle...but I have to wonder what the hell are these parents thinking? I am proud my kids play with dirt, and know how to occupy their time in their day with PLAY, we have video games in our house, and the kids play with them. But they play with other things...DIRT! they explore, imagine and create and video games are not the sole source of entertainment. I think its about time parents start being parents, many have forgotten that rules are good for kids, and there are other things to respect in life than the electronic toys. So now it is up to the local law, volunteers etc to find this spoiled little bastard who is probably sitting in someones basement playing games! I think the parents should foot the bill for this search maybe....take the video game money away from the kid and pay the cost?!
Speaking of costs, the kids and i made it out shopping for Halloween costumes yesterday. Lucky for me the snow on the ground factor came in handy with the avoid the slutty hanna montana costume for Aspen. So much for no cable no pressure....she has been all the rage about being hanna montanna this year, while i control my own rage of NOT saying...'no honey you cannot dress like that for Halloween' bonus of living in the chilly north @ halloween...costumes have to be covered enough for clothes to fit underneath...layers many many layers! I managed to not blow TOOO much money on them, but did have to pick up a little extra for ryki's costume...accessories were a must have.
oh and a shout out to one of my fav blogs ... the journal revolution! I can't say enough about the giggles I get from reading the adventures of these two sisters. Literally saving my life (or my mom's!) when I was away from the comfort of my own home with stories of cold meat, and this morning with stories of fellow ball 'keepers' and support for a gramma...FREE EDNA~!
a warning to my friend LW from my love.....beware of those kids on the street, he was one of those kids, and Halloween is around the corner...best to give the balls back for the coming week or so maybe!

I Think I'll Tell ya What...
that saying just makes me giggle! One of the good old boy sayings you will hear from my Uncle Fred when he is about to explain something. I teased him last week when he said it, and even wrote it down in Aspen's school~onthe~road book so I wouldn't forget it...now I am thinking about saying it!
Busy day around here today, I now have a new fixed tire ...no more pumping air, but now have to book a service call. Lots of running thru town to...shopping laundry fit some school in somewhere...we actually made a schedule SORTA. A weekly chart of what to do each day...so we will see how that goes. Normally it is a busy place here at the crack of dawn. Today alone, the kids have fed the chickens, Aspen has created some art for her desk area, Ryki wrangled a giraffe and a crocodile in the jungle called the living room and I have finished my flickr'n fix for the morning. Now the two little ones are practicing their soccer outside in the morning sun...while the nanny barks at a passerby. I thought soccer was over for the year, but the soccer ball was found on Saturday during an intense hunt for crawdad! It was presumed popped by damn dog and lost to the sacrifice of the creek gods. Daisy has found her bright pink ski pole now though so I think the soccer ball is safe for now.
On a IN THE NEWS note I have to say I have done a lot of head shaking lately. Let's see...things that drive me batty!
In the recent wake of the baby formula scandal in China...a horrible event effecting the most innocent in our world, the local news presented a story about local establishments that post breastfeeding friendly stickers on their doors. They interviewed people on the street for their opinions. I wasn't surprised by the amount of woman that expressed their beliefs in the health benefits of breastfeeding, but what did surprise me was how many women finished their comments with "but it should be done very discreetly, always covered up, maybe even a separate room would be in order" One lady even went as far as saying she thought there should be bylaws of some sort that would prevent mothers from feeding in say...public parks because there are teenage boys around and "ya know shat they will be thinking about" Are people really that dumb they think a teenage is going to get off in the park watching a mom feed a baby? I am very FOR breastfeeding. In all my years I can count two woman (who were cousins?) who were actually the type of mom's to flip out their boob on the table to feed a child. I am shocked in this day and age people remain scared of nature's milk!
And of course there's politics...what a joke! Kinda hard I would say for Canadians to make informed decisions on who they want to vote for when the parties do nothing but bash the other guys every chance they get...how saying what the hell you are planning to do for a change?
Travelling?? well if you plan on taking a bus...be prepared to defend your life! This summer an incident on a bus resulted in a young man travelling home not only losing his life, but his head! This was after a crazy man on the bus lost his mind. A rare incident they all said, extra security not needed? Well yesterday, a "routine?" occurrence happened just north of me. The local police force put a man on the bus to travel south. Apparently a common thing when vagrants are stuck in rural communities without means or leaving. The police will pay for the ticket outta town. This man yesterday had recently been jailed along with a brief stay in hospital where it was deemed he was not crazy enough to keep in the hospital. So do you think the idiots putting the crazy on the bus bothered to check him out when they added him to the mix of passengers?! No, invade his personal space/ crazy right? well it resulted in the man stabbing another passenger in the chest, and once again bus travel is looking like it needs a few upgrades. Oh and the bus company reported it is very common practice to put vagrants on the bus, but the police do not have to inform them of the transfers?? wtf?!
on a family blender issue, there was an amber alert posted last night on tv. Involving a father and his "abducted" son on the run. They described the boy as 13yrs old, 5.5ft tall and 160lbs. I questioned right away of the ability to abduct a "child' of that age and size, only to see the next alert upgraded declaring the boy autistic. Now I realize this morning I know nothing about this situation. But if I had to speculate? I would wonder if this is really an abduction? or a father with no where else to turn? This man now has his face, name and description plastered on the tv across the country ... a man hunt on?! I hope that it is not an abduction really, I hope that this man and son can find their way to a safe home, and if it is as I predict...maybe a dad fighting the only way he can for his son?? I hope they get away fast, finding that safe new home to be a family
and finally $$$$$ Where the fuck do they come up with the cost of things these daze?? everytime I hear something about money I have a picture of Mike Myers in my head in that Austin Powers movie (which annoys me) I do not understand how soooo many millions can be floating around everywhere...but there are people starving in the streets, living in fema trailers still, fighting to pay their bills . and denied medical attention .. these are a few examples that really annoy the fuck outta me...
superbowl commercials....$8million for a fifteen second commercial WTF??
bankrupt banks....have head hunchos that collected b/tw 11-33million dollars each in salaries last year ...for going bankrupt?? WTF
the amount of money spent on 'advertising' our politians? enough said...ridiculous...!!!
it would be nice if sometimes these millions went to something that matters...ya know food for kids, medicine and treatment for those who do not have the coverage or the means to pay, etc
I think I'll tell ya what....if I had a million's dollars....I'd be rich??? NOT

Fun for the brats as they took the chance to 'learn how to pick them up and not jump and scream while doing it'
We attended the 28th annual Kelly Cunneyworth Reunion (one would think after 28years I would know how to spell cunniworth??? luckily I am a Kelly~!) local News that Drives me batty
~! Living just outside the small town of Callander, Ontario I admit I felt a sense of (new) hometown pride when I realized a young man from town is part of the Canadian Olympic Team for Track and Field. This week in the local small town weekly paper I read a story of his DELAYED trip to Beijing after attempting to board his Air Canada flight to the games. It would seem some ANAL guard at the gates stopped young Taylor Milne and flagged his passport as unacceptable at the gate. The passport Milne admitted had gone thru the wash two years prior but noted to the guard that he had in fact just flown to Belgium the week before with the same passports, as well had obtained his Chinese Visa for the Games from CHINA? after contacting Airport Officials..the jack ass guard still stuck to his guns and denied the passport despite the fact the officials were willing to let Milne continue on his journey. His journey was delayed a full week! New passport, and then a new visa were required for our Olympian Athlete to make it to the Games. My question is ..did this Jack Ass of a Guard stop to notice Milne was wearing a Canadian Olympic Athlete Jacket? or that his carry on bag was a bag designed just for our Team Members? I dislike anal people...very much!
and another sorta local story of a 'self proclaimed environmentalist" gent from Ottawa (the cit~iot) who recently purchased some lake front property in a northern community (Kilarney) After taking his refuse to the local dump one day, he has began a campaign...calling in his 'environmental lobby friends' to join his cause. It would seem he is troubled by the fact he spotted thirteen bears at the dump eating garbage. He is concerned that there is a large campground 3kms away, what about the safety of those campers?? and the safety of local RESIDENTS. His campaign is to raise awareness of this problem to petition the local community to erect fencing around the dump to stop the bears, possibly going as far as electrifying the fence line to ensure they stay out. Now don't get me wrong...when the bear was spotted on our street last week...and returned to our neighbours within thirty minutes despite being chased off by man and dog...I was ready for the nuisance to be shot...I am Mama! update..the bear has not returned, and no tracks visible in daze. BUT is this the first time this guy has left his concrete jungle?? has he considered by closing the dump off to the bears..they will follow their noses 3kms over to those campers?? One of the best parts of long weekend fishing trips as a child was the end of the weekend, and the trip to the dump to get rid of our garbage and WATCH THE BEARS??? I am guessing any local RESIDENTS know the bears R there when they go to the dump, I even know of many local dumps that R built in consideration of the bears....a bigass hole that you lob the garbage into...the bears go down there you don't?~! I wonder if this guy and his lobby Friends are going to do the fundraising to for the cost of enclosing an entire country dump with hightech fencing for the bears too? cause from what I know of Northern Communties..there isn't really alot of money to go around....just for the bears to go under! dumbass!
Morning Chai..outta chai today..sipping on some Jasmine
Our Pets...not a post yet, I think usually under wildlife? Daisy learned the hard way over the weekend about chasing cars...not surprised however she seems to have tucked and rolled and bounced right back being annoying as ever...despite a big hole in her leg. The rodent is still surviving? and the two baby snakes in my antique can? will not be pets...will be released today!
Loony thoughts....
Hope you all have a fantastically fucking loony day!!!

The last day of the farm!
Well its official...I am no longer responsible for waking up each day and feeding chickens! The last eleven birds are in a cage @ the butchers waiting for their demise, and to be roasted to perfection @ a later date. I am finding though...they are handy little things in the freezer! My love came home from work yesterday with a jar of pickled beets from the 'little old lady' he is working for now. Today I am sending him to work with a frozen chicken to trade for MORE pickled beets! They R fantastic...pickled the old school way with a hint of garden dirt! I love love love trading and bartering for things!
On a new BLOG note...I am starting a new post label today....Local News that Drives me Batty! Just stuff around the area reported in the news that makes me go hmmmm?
so lets start with some news from back home.....in the area Owen Sound. Now apparently, if you go by the news reports from Toronto (citiots!) the story is reported as follows..... Poor Black Tourist in Small Town Owen Sound mugged and stabbed @ Tim Hortons, portraying the small city as a redneck area that people of color should beware of as the locals are racist. The truth the news is not reporting (which I have been filled in by my sister...via her MIL who has lived in the area all her life) Truth be told...the poor innocent black tourist @ tim hortons was actually a crack dealer from Toronto who responded to a local GIRL he has supplied with an addiction to crack by punching her in the face a few times when he didn't want to give her a "fix" When the local GIRL made it home swollen bruised and bloody and explained to her country cousins why she was in such rough shape...her country cousins found out the crack dealer, told him to get the hell out of dodge with his dirty drugs, and let him know in a small city like Owen Sound, the country folk do not take kindly people punching out women... a fight ensued resulting in the poor black crack dealer being stabbed. Now I do not EVER condone violence, but I have to say it makes you go hmmm??? when the news reports portray this story like this!
Another one that comes out of the surrounding area of Toronto is a terrible situation where a young girl of twelve was picked up walking home one night and assaulted by a man...a man known to police to be a creep, who also is the topic of a facebook group involving his neighbours due to his creepy behaviour. Now it sickens me that men like this roam around lurking for their next prey, but ya have to wonder ... 1. what the fuck were the parents of this twelve year old girl thinking letting her be out so late @ night ALONE at 1am walking the streets? and 2. why does it seem lately like facebook has more truths and answers about these stories than the freak'n news and police? should we all get a facebook account and start searching groups for what is really going on?
It really bugs the shit out of me the freedom...lack of supervision/safety that parents give their children!! Do they use their heads when they send their CHILDREN out on the streets alone? People often say that my love and I do not let our children out of our sight enough, need to trust that they will be safe! Well the first and last time we allowed Aspen to go for a sleepover to a friends...I called @ 7:30pm to say goodnight (in winter) only to be told the girls (ages6-7) were not home from tobogganing down the street! This was after dark, a block away from a major road in North Bay, and on a street with no sidewalks!! I was ready to flip out and go get my child...but instead I remained calm (knowing Aspen would freak more!) and requested the MOM go and pick the girls up right away. Needless to say, Aspen is no longer allowed to go for playdates there. Maybe I am paranoid, my love is even worse...but I figure I would rather have them @ home safe and sound and happy ! Preparing them for what they may face out on the streets of today. So far...my kids know that if anyone looks at them funny tries to touch or go near them ...scream your head off...tell the person to FUCK OFF OR MY DAD WILL KILL YOU!
