Lake Kawigamog

Well Monday returns...my beach boy has gone home to the beach, and the day ahead isn't looking pleasant! laundry@ the mat..augh! I really can't wait to get a machine in the house again..I despise laundrymats especially during the germ season!

The weather is changing fast, the leaves nearly all fallen, and snow in the forecast for tonight! We spent the spare time yesterday hucking wood in the house. still more to go, then we fill the porch, and more to pick up just outside of town. I would like to have enough not to be counting sticks in the end! but admit...I am loving the heat of the woodstove again!

My chickens are doing fucking fantastic! they look like real chickens now, and are growing fast! This fall crop stuff isn't hard at all. I spoiled them with a fresh clean saturday morning, making their coup comfy warm with lots of hay and fresh chips for their bed. While the last crop were killer chickens that attacked when you went in, these guys are wimps ... running for their lives when I dump in the chips...funny for this loon at 7am in the morning dressed in a moomoo and hoodie.

Saturday we went to Lake Kawigam0g...damn I have spelled that soo many times over the weekend...I will call it what it is..Lost Channel. It really is my dream place to live, if it wasn't for the hour and a half drive further into the middle of no where~! But beautiful is an understatement. A rare area that is still officially and "undeclared township" which around here means..no permits, no bylaws, no building inspectors. you are able to build whatever, where ever, live in, do whatever! with that also come the fact you do not pay property tax, therefore you do not have the luxury of 911 for fire. Ambulance comes, but you are looking at an average of one hour or more wait, unless a helicopter is available. For those living there now, I am sure they are anxiously waiting for word. A local Township has eyes on the prize and working to declare it theirs. Not so bad, about time some would say, but others that are retired to the serene life in the north may be facing some hefty tax hikes when their mansions are declared. While others who may be living in a trailer while building their dream home stone by stone may be unable to stay if the 'town rules apply'

Our fav hang in the area is Lost Channel. A shoreline along the lake that includes an Inn, cabins, and campground (seasonal) with a small river like exit that deadends a ways down. We have frequented the campground with family, are known in the inn...paradise! But down the road is where Rollie lived. A gentle old man who built his cabin many many moons ago, still equipped with a compost toilet, and plywood walls, even plexi glass for windows. He was recently removed from his little cabin to be 'retired to the home" at 75years old the bells went off when he was found mounting sprinklers to the high A frame steel roof, with hose running down the side, his home made fire protection. But finally last winter when paying a visit, his son found Rollie heating the house with the BBQ. While family had him committed...the sly old guy spent his time getting himself deemed sane....checking out without notice (insert giggle) He has since retired to the home, without grudge, but his little cabin seems empty now, sad without the eccentric old man rummaging around.

We were there for to send off Uncle Fred, and pick up our Pig. The frozen kind straight from cousin Jeff....who I will add is a serious dead look alike for stephen king..but farm boy size! Uncle Fred was heading forty minutes into the bush via quad...moose season begins today! here's hoping they get one!

I got to drive the new truck there! holy bells and whistles! its like driving a bus but smooth as butter. and for this loony driving who shouldn't play with buttons?! heat, volume and radio stations are right on the sterring wheel! my love was quick to jump back into the drivers seat when we returned to home...he is still very much in the 'boy with new toy' phase of things.

so i managed to not burn the hashbrowns the kids are having for breaky..and get this blog blogged...time management~! YA RITE..we will see have the rest of the day goes!

Hope its a good one for you all~!
