well the day started at 5:30 am this morning...animals!!! Nishka whining to go out...Mofo(still here) whining to get in...Ryki whining for his morning tea...ahh....I can escape and just go outside to feed my chickens, listen to the birds and leave Daddy to put on the kettle.
I have given up on taken Mofo home...the dirt that is in my car?! I am not looking forward to that cleanup. I have discovered however it is alot easier to just lock the big bastard up in the barn (NOT where my chickies R!) and let Daisy out on her own. She is not liking his advances today.... I hope that means it is almost over...who's gonna tell Mofo?
Exciting news on the wildlife front (sadly without a photo...but a new mission!) Went to check on my canoe this morning after all the rain yesterday and discovered.... a big ass beaver in the pond! Now don't get me wrong...if I do not like what he is up to .. he will have to go ... (Our neighbour 'cooter' is the local beaver trapper...LOL) but until then...a new Loony hunt for pics of the beaver....damn why did i not have my camera!!! but the pond was beautiful so when i returned with Camera in hand to find the beaver MIA...I grabbed some reflections of the morning sunshine. (hmm....just noticed and thunk...why would I capitalize Camera above/? like its a person... a trusted friend... like I am referring to someone by name??? LOL loony thoughts in the morning)
so still busy getting ready for the weekend....still excited about who may actually turn up for the holiday....ya just never know who may decide to make the trip outta all my friends and fam.
Hit the $$store yesterday for a couple of things for the kids. They were paid five bucks for puppysitting Milo last week. I just love taking them their with their money in hand. They pay for it themselves...they now know that for every dollar you spend...you need a dime and a nickel for 'the damn taxes" and the things they choose? last time they had two things to choose each. They each chose a new bug house for summer (which have come in handy over the past week!) Aspen chose a "blush" from the makeup section and Ryki chose a spiderman toothbrush!
This week...each chose a butterfly (frog/minnow/jimmney's-crickets) net and Aspen...a make up mirror Ryki...bag of rubber bag of fish. I am seeing a trend here with Aspen and her makeup...poor kid this mama doesn't do makeup LOL will need to find her a good teacher. Ryki opened his bag of fish to discover....someone screwd up and threw in a seal in the bag! bonus! identify all the different fish whales dolphins etc and moved them into the bathroom sink filled with water...he plays for an hour at the sink talking to his fish?? but keeps a special jar beside the sink .. if you need to use the sink...you need to keep his plastic fish in water in the jar!

computer free day? ya OK?!
ya know when you really have a busy week ahead, lots to do and a plan in mind? That was me this morning! Schedule made in my head ( i do not do schedules) list of things to accomplish! I even had it in the plans to go computer free for the day. With the exception of course of just an hour this morning to check my mail...?
Well the hour turned into an hour and a half...no problem I thought. Plan ahead get the first load of laundry in first ... it'll be ready when " the mail has been checked" LOL not in Loony's realm!!! First it started at 8:30am when Mofo and Milo the neighbourhood huskies arrived in the driveway. Today is not our day for puppy-sitting...but I am guessing by now Milo just figures this is where he comes 9-5. And Mofo...well lets just say after the last couple of daze of Daisy in heat and this morning...the homeskewled kids now have a full understanding of what it means when a female is in heat....how dogs make puppies.....etc .... augh!!! I have spent the last two hours after bringing Daisy in the house....listening to MOFO serenade my Daisy from the window howling like there is no tomorrow!!!
So here I am grabbing my ten minutes of therapy blogging my troubles away?! Oh did I mention the turtle that Ryki found on the weekend is now M.I.A after Ryki decided to leave him sitting in the sun with three dogs running free? Mr. Turtle is no where to be found, Ryki is sad, and Aspen is mad!
ok...back to the schedule...did I mention how much I hate them? Especially on hot sunny daze where we are black fly free???
gotta feed my birds...still I have thirty two...one week old today!!!! off to take some more photos...and of course I will get around to getting something done!!!!
Tomorrow maybe will be another day to go computer free...LOL one day closer to the weekend........The Canadian MAY 24 long weekend First of summer. Time for my beach boy Alex to come home again.....also time to celebrate Aspen's birthday along with her brother Alex......seven and nine years old this year I am having a hard time believing that!!! Both born on May 20.....two years and one minute apart to be exact...just different mama belly's to grow in....go figure?!

Lost
well here I am online in the night time hours?? My love working outside with the aid of a light (stubborn) working to use all materials left to complete the secret cabin. Funny how many cabins I have come across lately that have been declared 'secret' little cabins in the woods, our's beside the creek....I can't wait for it to be 'closed in' STIX Place it will be called....welcoming home Aunt Linda as well as any guests who may stop by.....or me! (cheapskate thinking.... fence the driveway/house, rent it out summer time for $$$ and live on the rest of my acres and the secret cabin?....mylove thinking...buy a houseboat?)
Lost...I swear this blogging stuff its therapy... I am lost today
It started with chickens, cleaning creek out of the bathroom, finding STUFF and our usual stuff. Ryki was the first to do the morning feed...which was @ 6am cause we were both up early thinking birds!!!
"birdie birdie birdie" thats what i call when I go in..proven theory LOL (my turkey's came running for me from the cemetary last fall after spending a wild night out on the street) We have 32 chicks still!!! Even the little gimpy one we kept in the house all day is fluffy yellow and going strong.
Lost ... again!
You know I am mama... today there is many Mama's with tears in their eyes, many Mama's who have shared in loss , and today there was a loss. The loss of a beautiful soul. I was only blessed by her smile, with pure joy in her face.
I am lost. This loss of such a soul is baffling to me, just totally unexplainable, unforgettable and unnecessary. I have issues with faith, I am lost, I have believe in the soul, I have belief in positive energy...the spirit...I have belief in being happy for life for good for believing!
but still today I am lost.
I am mama... and tomorrow I will wake up, hopefully at 630, I will hug my children, feed the chickens, and watch the sun come over the trees onto my Shoeless Acres....and for this lost soul I will wake knowing she has known and found the light of love, the place for such a beautiful energy to be...blessed is this child, blessed is this family, blessed that her beauty has been shared with me, and blessed that
and I am Mama.

The season begins
Well it has begun...the season of farminals! What we call our birds here on the acres. My day began as it will from now til butcher day..7am out to the coup...today being the last minute adjustments for the arrival of our day old little fuzzy yellow chicks. Our order...30...our pickup...32. They always seem to throw in a couple extras?
The kids and I drove out to the co-op for 10:30am...which is the time I got from Aspen as she took the message. Not hard to tell it is pick up day LOL cars trucks people and little boxes full of squawking chickens turkeys and duck everywhere! I was very proud of my wee kids...proudly peering into the boxes telling everyone who would listen which were turkeys, and not chickens (THEY REMEMBERED!) Then as we started checking the boxes it was Ryki who shouted out "R_A_C_I_N_E!!! This is our box Mama!" He READ the labels!!! There was my two brats sitting on the floor next to their chicks, poking there fingers and giggling like crazy....and many more smiles in the store. As I made it thru the line to pay, the very busy co-op girl behind the counter and leaned towards me,
"your little girl made my day when making all the calls, she was very polite and took the message, and seemed very happy to tell me that she and her brother were homeschooled...so they would be in to pick up the chicks!" I am mama...today I am PROUD MAMA.
As luck would have it, today has been chilly and very damp. We delivered our chicks to their new bedbox in the coup. Fed them, and watered them...this year I remembered...luke warm water for the babies! (last year I am pretty sure we lost a few off the bat as I fed them cold water...which apparently causes like instant pneumonia??? go figure?!)
I did my check up on them in one hour only to find...three little chicks in the water (too warm maybe??) soaking shivering and looking notso good.
Rescue Mission #1 (first day??) the little chicks were brought into the living room, wrapped in baby tshirts and cuddled by my wee farm hands till fluffy dry again and returned to their box
Rescue Mission #2 we have discovered a runt with cruddy legs. He is now in the parakeet cage...sometimes cuddled and being cared for by Aspen and Ryki. Aspen REMEMBERS that last year we had a chicken with cruddy legs...and after giving it time and space and love...she nursed him back to health and his legs grew strong again.
We shall see how long the wee chick in the parakeet cage will last. He doesn't seem to have an lacking lungs and squawking abilities, so we will see how long he stays indoors! (ie/ when dad gets home to find a chicken in the house?)

Up 6 frogs, down a daffy and a few pansies...and surrounded by howling dogs
Well its official...the creek season has begun! The "streetkids" as I am now calling them, arrived on their bikes after school yesterday...with a new boy in tow! It took less then ten minutes for them to notice the men down at the creek below building ... the secret shack LOL and seconds flat to realize...holy shit these guys have a lot of creek. They were atleast good little brats when they asked if they were allowed to check things out, and being a good mama I said sure...but you are not allowed EVER without an adult being there or knowing where you R.
Six kids, four dogs and a couple of buckets....down they went. I noticed however when the big boys jumped across the creek and started running for the otherside...my wee Ryki did NOT stop and look for my permission?? He ran like hell right behind the boys and did NOT seem to care if I cared or not??!! Aspen and her girl friend chose to frog hunt on their own, and I returned to the top of the hill to my weeding..with instructions on which part of the creek was safe to play. A while later, and many screams and giggles there was a soft yell from the creek "excuse me ...do you know what time it is?" Yup it was time for the streetkids to head home for dinner.
Six kids, and four dogs came back up the hill, proudly dragging with them a bucket with SIX frogs, andcovered in mud from the waist down. The cutest being the new kids...he chose to keep his socks and crocks on while frog hunting. YES I will be the favorite Mom on the street now sending home four kids covered in creek! The boys asked Ryki very nicely however if they could keep the frogs and bring them home to show Mom. Ryki being the sweetie he is said 'sure...but you gotta leave me one and one for my sister...there is enough for one frog each"
There is now two frogs living in the wheelbarrow, and four kids returning after school today for more frog hunting fun.(if their Mom's say ok of course...and I suggested rubber boots all around may be a good idea...although they all found barefeet works too???!!!)
On a dog front....my Daisy has hit her first heat! Mofo got his first wif yesterday and hasn't left the house since. I am trying to get him on camera, because for the last twenty four hours I swear he is serenading Daisy with the moon howls of a husky. Not to mention discovering a liking for my pansies??? I have caught him a few times now with purple petals on his lips?????!!! Yes...officially dogsitting Milo during the 9-5hours, and dogvising Mofo eyeing up my Daisy...I do not think I need more puppies running the acres this summer!!!

picking bones
Well its Monday morning! I should be doing laundry...but some how no one bothered to hook up my new old free machine that arrived last week? Someone being my LOVE, the guy that woke up Saturday with a dream...and he started building instead. Now I have the framework of a great floor down by the creek, but no running machine?~!
But I just finished loaded some of my many photos from the weekend to Flickr of course LOL and figured I can afford to avoid the laundry to share bout the weekend and the kids on our street! We were invited next door yesterday for homemade baked beans and burgers. I have been waiting for a nice sunny day to go and explore in the rocks behind their house. What was first described as a large cave...is not so large after all...but still pretty damn cool! and the rocks to climb?! I know where I would be when I was a kid...climbing! note to self...kids need helmets next door! I let them go without yesterday, but as a rule..I am mama! and any rockclimbing activities always include helmets. Ryki was barely walking when we started our rock adventures. Being blessed with sooo much rock in northern Ontario it is one of my fav childhood memories!
Fun Fun Fun!
We also did some hanging with the kidlets on the street...they R so cute. But rough and tough and the 'boy' things they do ...good grief! Aiden and Brady love nothing more than finding bones (so do the girls of course! Tara found a deer skull with antlers attached) but the boys returned with jaw bones..using them as guns, or weapons. Brady exclaiming how cool it is they found new teeth cause he "thinks he left the last ones in his pocket and nana was doing the laundry" LOL poor nana!!! Those teeth came from something they found on the road, I found them with their bikes one day last week...picking the teeth from the ''thing" proudly showing off the handful, and asking do you know what these teethe R from??? yuck...I think it was a cat too??!!! ahhh summer is almost here...school holidays...should be interesting!

"Look Daddy...I am a whore!"
Yup straight from the lips of my almost seven year old Princess! I am not sure whether I was going to pee my pants laughing or Daddy's head was going to pop right off!
Now if you back track to Tuesday, while visiting a friend. Kidlets playing quietly in the bedroom, parents enjoying the sunset. One small child innocently enters asking 'can I paint a flower on Aspen's face?" Sure I said, spying up the 'makeup markers' I can handle that...my kids don't have to been polished clean for school the next day! Needless to say less than fifteen minutes later, there were five children covered in makeup. With the biggest smile on Abby's face...cause she was multicolored from head to toe?! I thought I had escaped with just a good face painting on Aspen and Ryki, only to discover later the "happy faced knees and striped legs under Aspen's pants. But the kicker came when we left. Me and the kids in the car (always the best giggles in the car?) waiting for Daddy and Aspen let it out ... 'look mama...I am a whore' Now me being Loony could only giggle and respond with...'wait til Daddy gets in, tell him that!'
Needless to say...Daddy was the shade of a dark beet, and his response was..."WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? AND WHO TOLD YOU THAT??"
"if anyone ever calls you that again ... you punch them in the face and find me RIGHT AWAY"
So, when my giggles ended and Daddy calmed down, we were told that "a" the boy they were playing with told Aspen that when girls wear lots of makeup thats what it means...you're a whore! He on the other hand, covered in makeup as well...was a "super evil dude" with Aspen as his WHORE!! I am guessing this is one of those times that the wee one doesn't understand what the word really means, and we explained to Aspen and Ryki that the word is like saying b*tch or f*ck...so they should never use it again, and Daddy returned home to phone 'a's Mama to explain to her what had been said (note: "a"s Mom doesn't even wear makeup???LOL)
Now fast forward (back to) Wednesday morning when I woke to the curse day from hell, sending hubby out first thing to find me some Advil, spending almost the entire morning curled in a ball on the couch. Thankfully the pain went away just in time to join the neighbours for dinner....roast pork and venison...damn it was so good, melt in your mouth tasty!!! "k" managed to find a tin of BB's bringing smiles to everyones faces....my Ryki impressed everyone with his 'above average target shots!!! seven in a row!!! woo hoo..my wee hunter!!! he can fetch Mama some meat! (when he is twelve that is)
So now it is Thursday...almost the weekend...hopefully some warmer weather compared to the snow we started the week out with! My pansies have survived! Time for more gardening, and time to get ready for the chickens!!!...plus take Aspen in for more furniture...the dollhouse addition is complete and she is ready to decorate the bathroom now!
